Geology of Heartbreak

Now that twice the amount of time has passed and subducted memories have resurfaced, I feel I can confess what happened 23 years ago without fear without shame …

Began in 2021

Geology: Describes the structure of the Earth on and beneath its surface, the processes that have shaped that structure, and the histories of those rocks.

When his painful dormant memories were unexpectedly triggered, Stephen decided he wanted to remember more instead of suppressing them as in the past. Taking a cue from Nanasaki Ryosuke’s UNTIL I MEET MY HUSBAND, Stephen began to document those revived memories that he had never revealed to anyone in a series of candid chronological essays, a memoir of his struggles with bipolar depression, suicide, exile, relationships, immigration, discrimination; and how they shaped his life, his art and heart.
